PeterGrown Butter Lettuce
Baby Mizuna with Root Ball

Removing a head of lettuce from the ground means it can no longer absorb nutrients, and it quickly dries out. That is why we leave the root ball on the plant. Your lettuce will stay fresh naturally for up to ten days. Pick or cut the leaves you need each time, and then simply place the lettuce back in the refrigerator or on the kitchen worktop in a small cereal bowl with a small amount of water. You will be able to enjoy it for several days, and you will have very little waste.

TIP: Lettuce with a root ball is not only a tasty salad vegetable but also a plant. A cereal bowl with a small amount of water will hold the head upright and makes an attractive bouquet. It makes an original decoration, and makes a change from flowers!
